Remembrance Day 2025 at SVSS

Thanksgiving Wishes from SVSS, 2025
May your Thanksgiving weekend hold adventure! Saanich Volunteer Services Society wishes all of our clients, volunteers and communities a...
Our volunteers help our clients with the following activities:
driving to one appointment per week;
visiting for companionship;
helping with light yard work;
doing minor home repairs
picking up and delivering food hampers to those who cannot get their own hampers;
various other activities reviewed on an as needed basis;
onsite program volunteers:
Shop for, cook and serve lunch or tea for monthly programs;
Facilitate groups;
speak to groups about trips or other areas of personal experience;
reception volunteers book clients' appointments for drivers or connect clients with volunteers for other services. They also provide assistance to find help either through SVSS programming, staff, or through referral to other community agencies and/or options; finally,
CVITP (Canada Volunteer Income Tax Program) volunteers provide income tax preparation assistance for low income people in the Greater Victoria area.

Our organization runs with volunteers and a small core of four staff members.
We accept donations to continue to provide our programs, improve our services, and to ensure we can continue to meet an ever-widening need in our Saanich community.
If you are able to donate, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for donations over $25.

“Retirement meant it was time for me to offer my services to organizations where I could make a difference in other people’s lives.
Little did I realize how good it made me feel to help others live a better life because we CARED.”
-Marie, Volunteer

“The SVSS shopping bus excursion is the highlight of the week for us. Not only do we get the weekly shopping done, with all the help we need, we also get to know like-minded people.
To meet others is extremely important for every one’s mental well-being. We look forward to our weekly adventure, combining pleasure with the necessities of life.”
