OUR MISSION

Saanich Volunteer Services Society is dedicated to supporting independent living and enhancing quality of life for Saanich residents through compassionate volunteer services and meaningful community connections.

For more than 30 years, SVSS has provided personalized, one-to-one support services for adults aged 19 and older. Guided by a strong spirit of community care, our volunteers and staff work together to reduce isolation, foster connection, and help individuals remain active and independent in their daily lives.

Every client relationship begins with an individual meeting with a Client Service Coordinator to better understand each person’s unique needs, goals, and circumstances. This careful matching process helps create safe, supportive, and meaningful connections between clients and volunteers.

At SVSS, we believe that strong communities are built through kindness, respect, and human connection. By bringing people together, we help individuals feel supported, valued, and connected to the community around them.

WHO WE SUPPORT

Our clients are adults living independently throughout the Municipality of Saanich who benefit from additional community support to remain connected, safe, and independent in their everyday lives.

Community research has consistently identified transportation and access to services as major challenges for many seniors and adults living independently. Without reliable support, individuals can become increasingly isolated, miss important appointments, or feel compelled to continue driving when it may no longer be safe to do so.

Through free, personalized volunteer services, Saanich Volunteer Services Society helps bridge these gaps by providing practical assistance, social connection, and compassionate support that enables people to remain active members of their community.

Every ride provided, visit shared, and service delivered helps reduce isolation, strengthen community connections, and improve overall well-being. By supporting individuals where they live, SVSS contributes directly to a healthier, safer, and more connected Saanich community.
