Heather McCallum

I have worked with Synergy Health Management for the past 6 years.  At Synergy I work as a Medical Office Assistant, (MOA).  My role is to assist the medical doctor and naturopathic doctor in the running of their practice.

My work has always been working with people.  I have worked with doctors for the past 14 years.  At the same time and prior to this I have worked with mentally challenged children and adults.  From 1980 to 2006 I have operated group homes and a proprietary home.

My education has been life experience and courses in early childhood education and workshops in working with mentally challenged adults.  I also have taken courses for my current employment. 

Over the years I have done volunteer work in the community.  While my son was in preschool I was on the board of directors.  I held the positions of enrolment officer, vice president and president.  When my two children were school, both elementary and high school I volunteered for many school outings and in school events.  I worked with Special Olympics bowling as a scorekeeper.  I am a level 3 official for track and field and have worked at many local, provincial, national and world events.  

I have two grown children.  My daughter lives in Vancouver and my son in on a work Visa to Ireland until May 2011.  I live with my partner Randy and our dog Callie.  I spend my leisure time running and gardening.
