Evan Machin, C.A.
I received my Chartered Accountant designation in March 2010 after completing my articling term with Mantell Dickson Blades Dusanj Chartered Accountants and am looking to expand my experience and contribute to the community. During the past four years, I have worked with a wide variety of Not-For-Profit groups in an audit capacity. This experience has allowed me to gain a solid understanding of the specific accounting policies and operational issues faced by Not-For-Profit entities as well as a general understanding of the Not-For-Profit sector in Victoria.
I believe that the Saanich Volunteer Services Society plays an important role in our community. I have an 86 year old Grandmother and a 92 year old Grandmother-In-Law who both live in assisted living complexes and I know firsthand how much a visit from a familiar face means to them. It is also apparent how assistance, such as a trip to town, brightens their day, gives them a subject to look forward to and relieves the burden of care giving from my mother / mother-in-law, who are their primary care givers outside the home. Being able to contribute to an organization that provides these important services would be very rewarding.
Recently married, my wife and I spent our honeymoon to New Zealand, where we drove around the country and did some hiking. We both enjoy hiking and athletics, which keep us busy.
